College Student Gift Basket

This past weekend, we celebrated my older brother's 20th birthday.  Wait...did I just say TWENTY?!  I know I'm going to sound old when I say this, but...where did all of the time go?
Now that he's into his Sophomore year of college, we had fun picking out some 'college themed' presents.  This year he told us that he didn't need anything besides clothes.  But who wants to just get a bunch of shirts for your birthday?  So, we got creative. (Creative meaning--searched Pinterest for other people's creative ideas).  If there was one thing we DID know he needed, it's F O O D.  There were lots of ideas on Pinterest for college student gift baskets, so we went off of those ideas and came up with our own collaboration.  Here's the result of one trip to Wal-Mart:

Basically, we took with us a list of a few essentials we thought he could use, and then 'went to town' on the snacks and other food.

'Breaking it down', here is a list of the 'necessities' portion of the basket:

Items Pictured:
  • Toilet paper (his roommates will be happy!)
  • Paper Towels
  • Ricola cough drops
  • Altoid mints
  • Gloves
  • Chapstick
  • BAND-AIDS
  • Tissues
  • Face soap
  • Axe shampoo
  • Hair gel
  • Packers poster (because he needs something to decorate those bare walls in his house!)
And don't forget the laundry basket! You could also use a storage bin for this--whatever your college student happens to need.  That's the fun part about this gift.  You get to personalize it however you want.

Now for the food:

Items Pictured:
  • Beef Jerky
  • Caramel Corn
  • Pop Corn
  • Yogurt
  • Cereal
  • Candy
  • Cookies
  • Pudding
  • Hot Cocoa
  • Nuetella
  • Cheese Spread
  • Crackers
  • Fizzy/Sparkling water
  • Zone bars
So there you go!  This gift could also be sent as a smaller care package in the mail if your college student lives too far away to see for their birthday.  Luckily, we got to spend the weekend with ours. :)

Happy November!
